No tow, no trip
If your car won't start, a shop visit begins with a tow bill. A mobile mechanic skips that entirely by coming to the car, which can save you a hundred dollars or more before any work is even done.
Lower overhead, fairer labor
A mobile mechanic doesn't pay for a building full of bays and a front office, so the labor rate reflects that. You're paying for the work, not the real estate.
No upsells you didn't ask for
When you can see the work happening in your own driveway and hear a plain-language explanation, it's a lot harder to get talked into parts you don't need.
When a shop still makes sense
Some jobs genuinely need a lift, a press, or specialty equipment. An honest mobile mechanic will tell you when that's the case instead of taking on a job that should go to a shop. For most diagnostics, brakes, batteries, and maintenance, though, mobile is the better deal.
